Gonggi is a traditional Korean game that’s easy to learn and fun to play! The objective is to toss and catch the stones or dice through different stages. Here’s how you can play:
What You’ll Need:
- 5 Gonggi stones (included in this set).
Game Setup:
- Choose a flat surface to play on.
- Place all 5 stones/dice on the ground.
How to Play:
Stage 1 – Pick Up 1 Stone at a Time:
- Toss one stone into the air.
- Quickly pick up 1 stone from the ground while the tossed stone is in the air.
- Catch the tossed stone before it lands.
- Repeat until all 5 stones are picked up, one at a time.
Stage 2 – Pick Up 2 Stones at a Time:
- Toss one stone into the air again.
- Pick up 2 stones at a time and catch the tossed stone before it lands.
- Repeat until all stones are picked up in pairs.
Stage 3 – Pick Up 3 Stones and Then 1:
- Toss one stone into the air.
- Pick up 3 stones at once, then catch the tossed stone.
- Repeat with the remaining stone.
Stage 4 – Pick Up All Stones at Once:
- Toss one stone into the air.
- Pick up all 4 stones in one motion and catch the tossed stone before it lands.
Stage 5 – Back of the Hand Catch:
- Toss all 5 stones into the air.
- Catch as many as possible on the back of your hand.
- Flip your hand to catch them in your palm for a final score.
Winning the Game:
- Players take turns completing the stages.
- If a player fails to catch the tossed stone or doesn’t pick up the required stones, their turn ends.
- The player who completes all stages or scores the most points wins!
